Postgraduate Certificate in ‘Developing Teachers’ Research and Practice’

The Postgraduate Certificate in ‘Developing Teachers’ Research and Practice’ was designed in response to teachers in our community asking for an accredited CPD. This opportunity has allowed many of our teachers to build on their experiences and ideas from the residential programme, and explore them in their classrooms.

The programme consists of two 30-credit modules delivered by colleagues from the University of Leeds School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies. For each module you will come together with fellow teachers for two Saturday seminars. At these seminars you will hear about each other’s projects, share reading and research, and explore ethics processes, creative research methods, and academic writing practice.

During this time you will receive support from a dedicated personal tutor through one-on-one tutorials (in person or online). These tutorials are designed to help you decide on your project questions and methods for exploring them, and to reflect on your experiences in the classroom.

This programme is designed to be as flexible as possible to enable our teachers to combine it with their busy teaching schedules. You can either do the programme full-time by completing two modules in one year, or part-time by completing the first module in the autumn of year one and the second module in the spring of year two.
